The SpiRit of Science: Maurice de Rohan Scholarships enable students in years 10 and 11 at South Australian schools to attend the Royal Institution of Great Britain’s Christmas Lectures in London. SpiRit of Science gives a talented group of young people a chance to develop their passion for science in a unique learning environment.

Since their inception in 2005, the SpiRit of Science: Maurice de Rohan Scholarships (named after the late Maurice de Rohan, South Australia’s former Agent General in London) have enabled 10 students in years 10 and 11 from South Australian schools, plus two teachers, to attend the Royal Institution of Great Britain’s renowned Christmas Lectures. Included are visits to scientific institutions, galleries, and places of historical and cultural interest.

Combining their experience of these world-renowned lectures with plenty of time to immerse themselves in London culture, a group of talented young people have the chance to develop their passion for science in a unique learning environment. They learn what they can achieve if they choose a career in science, and can share their experiences with peers and neighbouring schools on their return to Australia.
