Simon Pampena

Simon Pampena is a leading Australian maths communicator and stand-up mathematician. He was first appointed as the National Numeracy Ambassador in 2009 and had his position renewed by the PM Julia Gillard in 2010 and 2011. Simon has been honing his comedic skills over the past nine years with the goal of making maths accessible to everyone. This took him from being a Raw Comedy finalist to writing and performing seven maths comedy shows for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Darwin Arts Festival and the Adelaide Fringe. This led to four national touring grants from the Federal Government for Australian Science Week in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Simon has written and performed for ABC1’s Catalyst program along with the You Can Do Maths TV campaign.
