Bill Von Hippel
Bill von Hippel received his BA in Psychology at Yale University in 1985, and completed his PhD in Social Psychology at the University of Michigan in 1990.
He is Head of the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland and has previously taught at the University of New South Wales and Ohio State University. His research is concerned with evolutionary psychology, self-regulation, and stereotyping and prejudice. Professor von Hippel has been a fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Berlin, and is a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and the Society of Experimental Social Psychology.
Professor von Hippel has published over 80 papers, chapters, and edited volumes, and his research has been supported by the Australian Research Council and the National Institute of Aging.
Professor von Hippel’s research has been presented in hundreds of media stories in Australia, the US, and Europe, including a project chosen by the New York Times as one of the “100 Ideas of the Year”. He also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and Social Cognition.
