Great Big Science Read: Supernormal stimuli

Why do geese abandon their own eggs for a painted volleyball? Animals often react to imitations that appeal more to their instincts than the real thing. This ‘supernormal stimuli’, is also observed in humans. Our host Natasha Mitchell and psychologist/author Deirdre Barrett talked about how we can learn to recognise when our primal instincts threaten to lead us astray.
