Held annually in August, National Science Week reaches more than a million people through science events across Australia.

This function – launched by the SA Minister for Science and Information Economy, the Hon Jay Weatherill – provided information about the 2011 program, the opening of the State grants round and how to nominate for the Unsung Hero of SA Science Awards.

A representative of the Federal Government provided an update on the progress of the Inspiring Australia initiative and how it is affecting science engagement across the country.
