The Film Club’s premiere event was a screening of the bio-zombie film 28Weeks Later, with a guest speaker from Rising Sun Pictures – the creative whizz-kids who created the visual effects for the film.
Synopsis: six months after the rage virus was inflicted on the population of Great Britain, the US Army helps to secure a small area of London for the survivors to repopulate and start again. But not everything goes according to plan.
The film was scarier and gorier than we anticipated — viewers lingered afterward for a few drinks to calm their nerves. 28 Weeks Later was introduced by Sean Mathieson from Rising Sun Pictures, which created the visual effects for the film. He gave us an insight into different aspects of biology, chemistry and physics behind the movie — although the facts were sometimes sacrificed for effect.
