Book Club: How to Cool the Planet

When: Wednesday 21 July 2010
Time: 6:00pm to 7:30pm

A group of scientists is trying to lower the temperature of the planet with huge contraptions that suck CO2 from the air, machines that brighten clouds and deflect sunlight away from earth — even artificial volcanoes that spray heat-reflecting particles into the atmosphere. Geoengineering  is no longer fringe science, but what will we pay for resetting the thermostat? Author Jeff Goodell was joined by Sam Doust from the ABC, to explore what it might take to engineer a solution to climate change.
