RiAus film club: An eyeful of sound

“I saw this most beautiful sound, it was just gorgeous… beautiful reds, yellows and purples…My mum said it was the cock crowing.” Julie, describing an early synesthetic memory.
UK Animator Samantha Moore joined us and talked about her award-winning short film: An eyeful of sound that represents these fascinating synesthetic experiences through animation. Alice Potter, who has synesthesia, shared her experiences.

What must it be like to see sounds as colours, attribute personalities to dates or even taste certain words? Far from being a handicap, many synesthetes view their sensory perceptions as a gift, adding rich variety to their lives.
