The annual CSIRO Teacher Tours is a partnership between RiAus, the South Australian Government’s Department of Education and Children’s Services (DECS) and the CSIRO, running since 2007.
Coordinated by the CSIRO Preventative Health Flagship in Adelaide and hosted by CSIRO research facilities around the country, the tour enables classroom teachers to participate in a range of current research and topical science experiences in various state and territory capitals. Through their participation, teachers meet and interact with scientists from a range of areas – including preventative health, food production, gene technology, materials science, taxonomy and astronomy – then share what they have learned with peers and students on their return to the classroom.
