Soft toys, sweets and porn – ain’t nothing like the real thing (9 August 2011)

The RiAus plays host on August 29th to Supernormal Stimuli, a public event featuring renowned American psychologist and author, Dr Deirdre Barrett that aims to explain how our once helpful natural instincts can be so easily hijacked in the 21st century.

“These instincts—for food, sex, or territorial protection— evolved for life on the savannahs 10,000 years ago, not for today’s world of densely populated cities, technological innovations, and pollution,” Dr Barrett said.
